Ring Base Materials

All using steel hollow, angle and plate fabricated to the desired dimension as per our detail shop-drawings and all steel work shall comply with the requirements of BS 449 Part 1.

Structural weldable steel hot-rolled material shall be conforming to BS 4360 Part 1: 1969 Grade 43C or equivalent or unless otherwise noted.

All structural steel hot-rolled hollow sections shall be conforming to BS 1387: 1967 or BS 4360 Part 2 or unless other wise noted.

All steel brackets shall conform to BS 4360 Part 1: 1969 Grade 43C or equivalent.

All bolts and nuts shall conform to BS 4190 or BS 3692: 1967.

Welding shall conform to the pertinent sections of BS 3643.  All electrodes shall comply with BS 639.  All welds for connection of hollow members shall full penetration Butt welds unless otherwise noted-

Steel members, accessories that related under works of this section shall be treated with primer coating of Micaceous Iron Oxide (MIO) paint and spray finish with fire rated paint product of ICI or equivalent.

Dome Structure And Cladding

Wired Spaceframe Aluminium extrusion structures shall be in accordance with BS 1474 of Alloy AA6063 Tempered T6 and B3 5005; J575, free from perceptible distortions wave, twist, buckling or other deficiencies of appearance of performance.

Aluminium sheet 1.2mm thick in accordance with BS 1470 of Alloy 5754 or ASTM 209M.

All bolts, nuts, screws and fastenings shall be in accordance with Type 304,Grade A2 of BS 6205 Stainless Steel Cadmium plated or Type 316 Grade A4 of BS 6106 Stainless Steel.

All sealant materials shall be one part low module silicone sealant conforming to Draft BSS 78/1438 and SMC 10 BS 5889.

Compound used for sealing shall be composed of the best quality material available.  Their adhering qualities shall be such that they adhere to adjacent surfaces throughout the range of temperature changes from 0 degree F - 180 degree F and humidity changes of 5% to 100%.

Sealant shall be Dow Corning one part silicone or approved equal sealant that will cure to a durable water tight flexible silicone rubber joint seal that can accommodate + 50% movement for all site applied sealant.

Structural silicone sealant for factory application shall be Dow Coming two part silicone or approved equivalent.

Aluminium cladding shall be with fluorocarbon coating for Architect's selection or otherwise noted.  The color shall be selected from the standard pre-formulated or custom color upon requested.

The top coated surface shall comply with the "Specification for Coated Coil for Exterior.  Building Applications" issued by ECCA (European Coil Coating Association) or AAMA 605.1 of (American Aluminium Manufacturer Association) to achieve the quality level.

Fluorocarbon coating shall be factory spray and oven baked of approved 3coat thermally cured fluorocarbon polymeric and pigmented organic coating systems as follows:-

  • One coat inhibitive primer to minimum dry film thickness of 5 microns.

  • One color coat to minimum dry film thickness of 25 microns.

  • One clear coat of "Kynar 500 / Hylar 5000" Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) to minimum dry film thickness of 10 microns.
